The Oil and Gas industry has always been significant for the Indian economy, since more than one-third of India’s energy requirements are being met by the hydrocarbon sector. India is also one of the largest consumers of Oil and Gas in the world and its primary energy consumption has doubled in the last two decades.

The industry is broadly divided into following different segments which refers to various points in the process of exploring and extracting, collecting, and processing and ultimately distributing the oil and natural gas for use.

  • Midstream: Includes activities pertaining to processing, storing, marketing and transportation of commodities such as crude oil, natural gas, natural gas liquids (liquefied natural gas such as ethane, propane and butane)
  • Downstream: Includes activities pertaining to the refining and processing of crude oil, selling and distribution of natural gas & products derived from crude oil
