Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) is an emerging clean energy solution produced from organic waste such as agricultural residue, municipal solid waste, press mud, and animal waste. It is a renewable and eco-friendly alternative to conventional fossil fuels and plays a vital role in India’s transition towards a low-carbon and sustainable energy future.
CBG is purified biogas that contains a high concentration of methane, making it suitable for use as an automotive fuel and for industrial applications. By converting organic waste into energy, CBG promotes sustainable waste management and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
Currently, Hydrocarbon Sector Skill Council (HSSC) has developed and notified two Qualification Packs (QPs) for the Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) domain. These QPs are aligned with industry requirements and National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) standards.
| S. No. | QP Name | QP Code | NSQF Level | Training Duration (Hours) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Compressed Biogas Plant Operator V1.0 | HYC/Q 4401 | 3.5 | 420 |
| 2 | Compressed Biogas Plant Technician | HYC/Q 4402 | 4 | 480 |
These job roles are designed to equip learners with practical, job-ready competencies for efficient operation, maintenance, and safety management of Compressed Bio-Gas plants.
